Rotary Fun Regatta

The Rotary Club of East Nassau is hosting the Rotary Fun Regatta as part of their continued support of the Bahamas Sailing Association and the Bahamas National Sailing School. The event is Saturday May 17 from 10am to 3pm. We encourage Rotarians to come by at any point in the day to get a close look at what the young sailors are up to.

Rotarians are needed to

• Work the Hamburger Van (a separate sign-up list)
• Assist and spectate in the committee and other motor boats on the water. To catch a ride on a boat come to the Nassau Yacht Club at 10am and find Fernando de Cardenas or Jason Robertson. You can also get on a boat when the races begin again after lunch.
• Have a go at sailing yourself. Try out a Laser of Sunfish yourself or with an experienced youth sailor. Come prepared with a change of clothes so you won’t have any excuse not to sail!.
• If you have your own boat load it up with the family and friends and start your own cheering section next to the course.

Fleets: Optimist Intermediate, Optimist Advanced, Lasers and Sunfish

Races: Will try to have six races

Schedule – Saturday May 17, 2014

 9:30 – Sailors arrive at the Nassau Yacht Club and rig their boats

10:00 - Competitors' meeting. Spectators riding in the Committee Boats arrive.

10:30 - 12:00 – Youth Racing

12:15 - 1:45 - Lunch on the beach (Montagu Beach) provided by RCEN

                     - Sunfish and Lasers are available sailing by Rotarians, friends and parents

2:00 - 3:30   - Youth Racing

4:00 - 4:30   - Presentation at NYC

Lunch will be served from the RCEN Hamburger Van. It is included for the sailors. Food and drinks will be for sale for everyone else (12-2:30pm).
