Bahamas High Performance Athletic Academy

The Bahamas High Performance Academy (BHP) was officially started in 2010 by five-time Olympian and Olympic gold medalist, Pauline Davis-Thompson. The main purpose for forming the BHP was to develop the ideal student athlete by bridging the gap between athletic performance and academic achievement. The bulk of the team consists of athletes from economically challenged backgrounds who would otherwise not be able to afford a college education. The team provides an opportunity for young student athletes to transcend their economic situations and make a better life for themselves via a solid education afforded them through sports; the team subsidizes costs of athletes who cannot afford team fees, uniforms, etc.

Coach Nick Dean is a certified USATF Track and field coach and has had personal competition experience as a student athlete and later in life as a master’s level athlete. Coach Nick is a student of his craft and has studied the science of track and field for a number of years. His methodical approach to the proper development of an athlete’s career has allowed him to be a valuable compliment to the BHP Family. 4
